in spite of ourselves, we'll end up sittin' on a rainbow.

gardens.

(sunshine)

dear em,

these photos were taken in the garden, in my parents' back yard.

this garden was a project that james and i constructed in the first summer that we were together. he hauled all of the dirt (about a ton, or so it seemed) down two flights of stairs (with a wheelbarrow) because i had to go to work. when i returned, the task was complete.

the garden sat stagnant last year - unplanted, unloved - this year, we are reviving it. new soil, young, healthy plants, lots of water. all of those good things.

so far, we have planted: cabbage (3); lettuce (5); peppers (3); marigolds (6) (they ward of the pests). so far, it looks like the garden will thrive.

the evening sun makes this exact spot one of my favourite places in the world to be at around 7:30 pm.

in these pictures: the sun looks warmer than it really was. it's funny how images and words have a way with life like that - they mix and mingle and make things seem, well, a certain way.

love, kay.

mossy hearts.

i like moss & i like you.
and you are, without doubt, a heart from
the kootenays.

and there is lots of moss in the kootenays.
and well, i guess, a moss heart is the best kind
of heart there ever was.
so, do you know what im sayin' ?
you! yah, you! you're a moss heart and i love you.

a film review, for you.

Eat Pray Love

Based on the book that made millions of women with emotional problems stuff their faces with pizza and meditate, this features Julia Roberts as Elizabeth Gilbert, the divorced writer who travelled for a year. Fuck seeing this. Instead, buy a one-way plane ticket, get fat on exotic foods, wear loose pants, find a guru, scrub some floors, drink some tequila, eat again, get your palm read by some old guy with no teeth and hope that Javier Bardem will also want to have sex with you. (RH)

AMC Forum 2:55pm, 6:15pm, 9:30pm

p.s. i am here! montreal in autumn. (far away from cowboy coffee hell) my love. time changes and late buses have left me sleepless and internet wandering. i went film searching and found this. a film review, for you - it's basically us who wrote it. dunno how it happened. it just did.

so much love! i miss you!

layover & love

layover in vancouver: 3 hours (approximately)
i'd rather be hanging out with you & the baby of the world.
absorbing the fall's rays: sun rays.

thank you for coming west. i'll be east, shortly i promise. xox

i found something special:

//Even now, all possible feelings do not exist, there are still those that lie beyond our capacity and our imagination. From time to time, when a piece of music no one has ever written or a painting no has ever painted, or something lese impossible to predict, fathom or yet describe takes place, a new feeling enters the world. And then, for the millionth time in the history of feeling, the heart surges and absorbs the impact//

(the history of love, of course)

You make birthdays wonderful.

.em.

you are an incredible friend.
what a way to start a birthday.

a collection of birthday mementos
(recollections of magic, in fact)
yes, there may have been too much milk consumed.
but hey, it's switzerland? what the fuck.

a stream of birthday dance moves
starring, well, the one and only:
julius, baby of the world

background dancer:
"big sunnies em"
(as they call her)

who else could it have been, really?

and then, in the day to follow, the most extraordinary
packages wrapped in yarn and glitter,
enveloping
majestic beings from other lands
(no, i've never encountered mr.dean
but i am elated that he is now a part of my universe),
notes from far away,
love spilling through the seams,
a baby who can steal your heart
(into infinity and a bit beyond).

you have an ability to tip me over the edge
so that i fall,
end over end,
(down some kind of a rainbow waterfall)
into a turquoise pool of enormous smiles.

you have this effect - it's sort of what you seem to do.

thank you em. you absolutely turned my entire day into a whole series of magic tricks.
(and from so so far away)

how do you do it?
well, the imaginarium of course!

so, i give you a few treats from the farm.
the most wondrous place a gal' could go.

this here is sticks.
(em: meet sticks.)
he likes to herd. but im not a sheep, so it's pretty annoying.
he's sweet an'all.

this is mendel.
mendel was born in italy,
grew up in montreal
and now he's an organic farmer outside of savona.
he is absolutely one
of the sweetest people you
could ever even hope to meet.
the best.

to the left: soll, mendel's son.
he runs the show. he & mendel yell a lot.
still though, the best.

just a couple end of day sun rays
through the rye.
they've always been my favourite.

love always,
k.

p.s.
have a looksie loo at this little guy.
he works at the farm.
we recently discovered that he's connected to the ufos.
interesting times, em, interesting times.

p.p.s
phone call is in order?
what's going down on the eastern front?
i work until 7pm tomorrow night.
apres that?

xoxo and all the love,
all the way to michigan (far away).

Adventures of Momma and the Littlest Glow Worm: Part II

I miss you, I hope you know.

Dear Emma & Steffi,

I am imagining that you're
walking through the quaint avenues of ann arbor together
a little bit bundled, hiding from the autumn crisp?
catching up. sharing secrets
adoring julius, in all of his adorability!
constructing some crazy lunacies that spill you into fits of laughter (the best kind).

Perhaps a coca cola and a cigarette to be shared later on, once the stars come out?
Perhaps (these poisons) Perhaps.

I miss you both and sincerely wish that i was with you.

Steffi ~ I am thrilled that you made it out to see Emma. I know that it means the world (and a few of the planets) to her. You're an incredible friend.

Emma ~ I am sorry that I've been sinking this ducky lately. In line with my fears, I've been sucked into the vacuum of whatever seems to happen here sometimes. I've had enough though. Inspiration? Spawned from the imaginarium? I hope so. I absolutely love the video that you posted and I've watched it many many times. What a swimmy-mini glow worm he is.

Love to you both.
(of the Triple Platinum variety.)

i love these guys.

these are 3 of the boys i've spent much of time with over the past few weeks -
couldn't really ask for a better bunch.

gramps - malcolm. who else?

ty.

ty and joe cool.
(the boys in blue)

do you know any
other 5 year olds
with purple ray bans?

no one does.

p.s. ty's word for sunglasses is "eyes" and he inconspicuously stole
some eyes from superstore recently. unfortunately, they were
far and away the ugliest eyes in the store.
he'll learn style, maybe from his cousin fin?

my last lunch in montreal (boring post but fun movie)

dear emma,

at this moment in time, i am sitting at the table on the back porch of my summer sublet house eating
salad
(which tastes a bit gritty from dirt?)
and drinking a
fairly mediocre quebec beer.
to accompany my lunch,
(lonely lunches don't taste as good),
i have been watching a fun little film called "Alice"
by a filmmaker named Jan Svankmajer.
He makes some pretty incredible stuff.
(i can send you more)

my plane leaves montreal in about three hours.
i will fly across the country and then *poof* i'll live in BC again.
and montreal will become a place, far away.
just like that.

love.

you're just that kind of person.

emma.

i know
that
you would love
that someone has taken
the time
to wrap
coloured yarn
around
posts.

you're just that kind of person.

i miss you.
(times a trajillion and a half)

night owl melodies (more).

dear em,

i am still in a juliosphere of temporal lucidity.
sleep will not come.
my brain is alive with a whirlwind of what ifs, whens, and wheres.

i miss you.
i think we would both agree that this a different kind of missing.
one that sort of sneaks up from behind and snips your achilles.
just a quick snip of course! - but a nasty one, nonetheless.

i know what you mean about the jokes - they bounce off empty walls.
ann arbor (no u) is too far away.
so are you.
so is j.worm, glow master (of the world).

today my eyes were hungry for all sorts of colours, so i will share
them.
(to be honest, i was writing little snap-shot-stories for you)

mermaid
etched in
the wall.
unexpected
beauty.
(the best
kind.)

suggestions?
yes,
please.

i like this little shadow dance.
the shadows tell a more elaborate story than the actual flowers do.
what does that tell?

plants can be cute - this one is proof.

stop light. somehow, just sitting there.
just like that.

p.s. i really like getting my hands dirty and i really hate dirt under my finger nails.

time machine.
where to go? when?
just spin a globe.
maybe spin a globe
with countries on it
that no longer exist?

...textures, from some time ago. (i think?)

love, k.
x.

clamp? my ass.
a father's love.
gorilla glue and flower pots.
obviously.

this porch.

tonight is our last night of
listening to the crickets;
watching the fireflies;
sneaking into the night for a breath of fresh air;
of listening
to the little
coos and poos
of the baby
(of the world)
together.

i love this porch.
this pagoda.
perfect for hanging
balloons and baby's laundry.

i love this place.

p.s.
porches are important places,
of course.

love, julius.

a midsummer night's dream.

emma,

new mom.
lovely friend.
beautiful bombshell of the world.
it's 3:24am and you are asleep
(rightfully so).

i am night owl'ing,

while

todd rummages for
midnight snacks.

it feels a bit like a dream,
in the most lovely way that
it ever possibly could.

julius is wrapped up,
rocking.
soothing.
dozing.
dreaming.

we love you.

good night.
bon nuit.
